Let us understand antenna types and antenna gain in practical manner.

Introduction

The first thing that you should know that, Antenna is a passive device. It simply transmit electromagnetic wave.  So the question arises that how antenna gain increase ur transmitting power (By increase the gain of the antenna by 3 dBi ur transmit power is just double). It is always confusing for Beginner.

Antenna Types

• Omni Antenna:- Considered a illuminating bulb as Omni Antenna than the  illuminated area  is said to be the coverage of Omni Antenna.

• Directional Antenna :- Now u can imagine that u are focusing ur bulb light , when u focus it, than ur light (imagine as Signal) will travel large distance as compare to normal bulb. It is the principle Directional antenna.

Antenna Gain :- Antenna gain is always confusing for beginner (dBi and dBm) .I give u, a simple explanation for the same. As explain in above, when u focus ur light beam it will traver large distance. so when we increase the gain of antenna what we actually happen, we concentrate our light more and more.

• U just focusing ur EMW (Electro Magnetic Wave).
• More Gain means more focus EMW (eg 24dBi. antenna have say 8' and 29 dBi have say 4').
